ENTERING & ATTENDING COMPETITIONS

Please see below for some information on how to enter and how eisteddfods/competitions work.

CATEGORIES

You will enter your child into eisteddfods according to age and the genre of your childs solo routine you will also enter in the categories as below:

Specially Restricted – this is for first timers and where your child will start.  The dancers in this category are usually first time or have not ever won a prize in an eisteddfod prior.

Restricted – these dancers have not placed 1st in that particular style/genre

Open – Once you have won a 1st place in the style/genre then you will move to Open category.

The above is general ruling but some eisteddfods do run by different ruling so we suggest at all times to check the rules of each eisteddfod.

AGES

Each eisteddfod may have different age cut off dates – some by the date of the eisteddfod you are entering and some by year. Ie. 1st Jan 2023.

Always check each syllabus to ensure you are following their age rules

SUPPLYING MUSIC

Your teacher will select your solo music and ensure the editing is in keeping with age appropriateness and time limit rules of the eisteddfods.  They will also email you your music so that you have on hand to supply with the eisteddfod upon entering.  Please always check rules as sometimes you may be required to take a USB or you may just need to email them your music.

AT THE EISTEDDFOD

Dancers are representing the K&V studio and must remember this at all times. You will be required to wear K&V uniform at all eisteddfods when not in costume.  If you are lucky enough to receive a prize please ensure you are in your K&V uniform to be presented on stage.

Please note we have a Code of Conduct for dancers which can be found HERE

AFTER THE EISTEDDFOD

We would love you to share your eisteddfod experience on your social media.  Be sure to mention not only your teacher but also K&V dance corp so that we are all aware and can follow your journey.

SOLO ROUTINE COSTUMES

Each solo routine for Eisteddfods will be required to have a solo costume that is in keeping with their routine and music. Marks are awarded for costumes as well as the routine and the costume will set the tone/style of the routine the student is performing.

Your solo teacher and Miss Vanessa will assist with the design and purchase of this. Please follow link below to organise a solo costume.
